Statement by the demonstration unions and civil society organizations NGO - Baghdad - the date: April 12, 2008
To demand the withdrawal of American forces and to stop its violations of the law and violation of human rights
From our human and national obligations to the current situation in Iraq, we organize this demonstration to express our support and to raise the following issues:
First: the presence of occupation forces
Our people feel with unease of the presence of the American and British occupation forces in Iraq and the continuation of that is not justified . Beside it violates the UN resolution 1483 . Therefore our people refuse to find any agreements or justification for the American military presence
.
Second: Violating human rights
the American occupation forces exercise excessive use of force and siege of safe cities when responding to the rejection of the presence .. Causing of collective punishment and humanitarian disasters .. In addition to the unjustified arrests without a warrant
Third: violate of Law
established the military forces intervene in the interest of Iraqi political parties against other Iraqi parties .. This is creating discord and infighting and this violates the stated objectives
Fourth: Therefore the demonstrators demand the following:
• appeal to the United Nations and the United States to withdrawal of American forces and disallow the President to extend the American presence through long-term Convention to be held with the Iraqi government .. We believe such an agreement is unjustified and illegal and detrimental to the interests of the Iraqi people and the American people.
• appeal to the United Nations to provide humanitarian aid to the cities affected by the military actions .. In addition to stand alongside the Iraqi Human Rights .. And the need to assist us in achieving free and fair elections to ensure the participation of all Iraqis .. Away from the pressure of the American forces ..
• appeal to the Iraqi Parliament and the Council Presidency to demand the withdrawal of foreign forces and the cessation of legal violations .. And the release of detainees in the occupation and the executive bodies ..
• We demand the presidency of the Council of Ministers to provide services and pave the way for free independent media .. And the protection of journalists, scientists and competencies and literary artists and to preserve their dignity .. In addition to interest universities and the provision of supplies scientific research and practical support needy students
